Anita Gupta
Weave Psychology was created by me, Anita Gupta. I’m a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of cross-sector experience with children, adolescents and adults needing assistance with their mental health, usually due to the impact of trauma and marginalisation. I have had the privilege of working in refugee health, Indigenous health, and with families in the out of home care system, as well as inner city Melbourne private practice and mainstream mental health. I am passionate about practice that considers relationships to be at the heart of wellbeing and change, and how these relationships are shaped by power, culture and trauma across generations. I am fascinated by the way complex client dynamics are mirrored in service systems, and enjoy providing training and systems level reflective spaces in addition to individual therapy and supervision.
My work is informed by many years of training in relational, trauma-informed and experiential frameworks, including psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Circle of Security and Power Threat Meaning framework. I create spaces with deep care and collaboration, allowing expression, reflection, connection and learning.
I’m fortunate enough collaborate with some incredible practitioners, including:

Her key areas of research include subjective wellbeing in diverse populations, particularly minority groups and marginalised populations, and the impact of discrimination and racial and cultural microaggressions.
